Widely dull with drizzly showers and low cloud, especially north.

Drizzly showers, mainly Cairngorms, Monadhliath and perhaps Lochnagar.

Extensive low cloud east and north

Cloud will blanket many mountains all day, typical base 500m N Cairngorms and 700m Lochnagar and Monadhliath. Elsewhere, the base likely to rise from 750 to 1000m, highest west of Glenshee west to areas south of Newtonmore.

Less than 10% north and east to 30% southwest

Sunshine and air clarity?

Patchy sun, mainly southernmost hills to the west of Glenshee. Slight haze, and extensively foggy on northern and eastern mountains.

Planning Outlook for all mountain areas from Wednesday, 22nd May, 2013

A brief spell of very cold and, for a while, gale force northwest to northerly winds around Thursday with a return of snow showers particularly to the NE Highlands where one should be prepared for brief periods of whiteout conditions combined with very severe wind chill. A mostly fine day and slightly less cold after early frost on Friday. Turning milder with some rain or showers extending from the northwest over the weekend.
