Strong southwesterly winds, reaching near gale force on some tops, will result in low cloud shrouding the hills, extensively and to lower slopes in the west where rain and drizzle will be frequent. Highest cloud bases likely over the Cairngorms.

Rain (a mix of showery days and those when rain sets in for a few hours) at some stage most days over the coming week or so. The heaviest and most persistent rain will be on western mountains, where fog will frequently shroud higher areas. Bands of upland gales or near gales will come through; the windy conditions most prolonged on the Scottish Highlands.
