Planning Outlook

All mountain areas of Britain from Tuesday 23rd October 2018

A strong area of high pressure lies west of the British Isles early this week. A prevailing west to northwesterly flow, with prolonged gales over Scottish mountains. Rain frequent or persistent NW Scotland, but largely dry elsewhere. Later in the week, a switch to northerly winds will bring widely much colder air across the UK. Dropping below freezing point on the Munros, and highest tops in England & Wales by Friday and the weekend. Expect upland gales and severe wind chill. Showers focused on north-facing hills will give a covering of snow on the hills. Away from showers, the air will be very clear.
