High pressure will bring another settled day across England and Wales with fairly sunny skies. However, some banks of valleys fog and across the Lakes banks of low cloud. Across Scotland, extensive low cloud in the west, but some tops poking above cloud. Windy, upland gales in the north.

All mountain areas of Britain from Tuesday 21st January 2020

High pressure will dominate through much of the week, bringing a much drier week, especially across England and Wales. A weakening front will move south on Tuesday bringing some drizzle, most extensive W Scotland, and more especially low cloud to many hills. Although some tops will poke above the cloud. Areas of low cloud from Wednesday onwards with further drizzle in the northwest. Again inversion conditions present with some tops above the cloud. Freezing level often above the tops with considerable snow loss overall. Although a temporary lowering of freezing level on Tuesday N Scotland. Blustery through week across the Highlands, occasional gales in north.
