Blustery. Showers. Cloud base slowly rising.

Westerly, 25 to on higher summits and ridges 30mph.

Mostly fairly small, but at times on higher areas, there may well be significant buffeting at times.

How Wet?

Showers

Drizzly showers, possibly locally widespread in morning, but by afternoon, well scattered and only well inland. Risk steady rain at nightfall.

Cloud on the hills?

Slowly lifting off most hills

Low cloud still widespread above 650 to 850m in morning, lowest western hills. The base will rise, and by afternoon, cloud rare below 850m and may clear all summits.

20% rising to 60% west and to 90% east in afternoon

Sunshine and air clarity?

Glimpses of sunshine, possibly more widespread sun extending inland in afternoon. Visibility often good below cloud, but will drop in rain, and extensively foggy on higher areas.

Planning Outlook for all mountain areas from Thursday, 23rd May, 2013

Cold over the coming week. There will be freeze thaw cycles on higher Scottish summits, and on higher tops further south, temperatures often only a couple of degrees above freezing point. Total precipitation will be small, but there will be snow showers (often rain or hail on summits from S Scotland southwards), and occasionally, particularly in western Scotland, fronts may edge in bringing several hours of rain and low cloud. Generally summits will often be cloud free, and the visibility excellent.
