English and Welsh Forecasts
The Mountain Weather Information service produces forecasts for the following areas in England and Wales. A major revision for each area is released before 4:30pm daily, with updates to the forecasts being made whenever necessary during the day, but most often around 7.20am.
Each forecast can be viewed on the website or mobile phone and is also downloadable as a pdf file and is for today and the following 2 days.
Note that although forecasts are nominally for National Parks but generally include adjacent upland areas:
The Lake District forecast covers all upland areas in the region of Cumbria - including Pennine fells and thus overlaps with NW extension to Yorkshire Dales NP (see below).
The Peak District and Yorkshire Dales National Park forecast covers the whole of the southern and central Pennines. Includes Cumbrian fells within the Yorkshire Dales NP extension.
The Snowdonia National Park forecast includes all summits in the the northern half of Wales from Plynlimon northwards.
The Brecon Beacons National Park forecast includes all higher summits in the southern half of Wales, including highest point in Preceli Hills.
Includes the whole of Cumbria, and also the western Pennines North from Ingleborough.
Also includes higher summits south to Plynlimon.
The Peak district and Yorkshire Dales National Parks and the area immediately between them.
Also includes all higher summits in southern half of Wales.
